Ab Re Releases First Single and Animated Music Video – “Veš Mašina”
After nearly twenty years of performing across various artistic fields, the legendary underground band from Požarevac and Belgrade, Ab Re, has finally released their first official single, Veš Mašina, announcing their upcoming debut studio album.
Encouraged by producer Petar Stevanović (known from the band Ljubičice), the members of Ab Re decided to record their first tracks, entrusting the production to Krokodil Studio in Pančevo. The result of this collaboration will be the album More Napeto, slated for release in the fall of 2019. Their musical style blends diverse influences, with one of the standout elements being “theatrical jazz” mixed with Balkan folk motifs.
The band has built its name through numerous collaborations with artists from the worlds of theater, circus, and performance art. The lyrics for Veš Mašina are actually part of the theatrical production Brod Ljubavi by Serbian playwright Nebojša Romčević, for which Ab Re composed the music.
The animated music video for Veš Mašina was directed and animated by Vanja Vikalo/Linnch, an illustrator, animator, and muralist. The video offers a critical take on the deviations of contemporary consumer society, portraying a world where individuals, under the centrifugal forces of advertising slogans, bank offers, and public pressure, are condemned to lose their will—ultimately yielding to unconditional, indiscriminate consumption.
Ab Re stands out not only for their unique sound but also for their exceptional presence on major festivals like REFRACT, Umbria Jazz Festival, EXIT, Dev9t, and many others. Remarkably, they managed to perform at these prestigious events for nearly two decades without releasing a single studio recording—until now.
Their first single was released in collaboration with independent labels Krokodil and Kontra.
The track is available for streaming on all major music platforms (Deezer, Spotify, iTunes, etc.).
