Ljubičice Wins the 2023 Milan Mladenović Award for Best Song

"We're the most proud of what has just happened! Thank you all! This is truly beautiful!" exclaimed Vuk Stevanović, a member of the band Ljubičice, following their receipt of the prestigious Milan Mladenović Award for 2023.

Ljubičice earned this remarkable recognition with their song "Dok čekamo pad" (While We Wait for the Fall), which was selected as the best song in the region by the Milan Mladenović Foundation. The decision was made by a regional panel of experts, which this year included Ana Đurić Konstrakta (Serbia), Branka Glavonjić (Serbia), Boris Leiner (Croatia), Zoran Predin (Slovenia), and Marko Šelić Marčelo (Serbia).

For the first time, the Milan Mladenović Award ceremony was held outside of Belgrade, taking place in Makarska, Croatia. Not only is Makarska the birthplace of Milan Mladenović's mother, Danica, but it also served as Milan's summer home for many years and inspired several of his songs, particularly "Modro i zeleno". The event was part of the new "Modro i zeleno" music festival, which took place on September 21st and 22nd, celebrating Milan Mladenović’s legacy through music. This festival was organized in collaboration with the Milan Mladenović Foundation, the City of Makarska, the Makarska Tourist Board, and the Malacological Museum.

The Milan Mladenović Award, presented in Makarska, is more than just a recognition; it is a symbol of innovation, courage, and artistic expression. It honors those who dare to follow their own path, resisting the pressures of conformity. Through this award, Milan's spirit continues to inspire new generations to be bold, authentic, and passionate in their art.
